1. Premium Fuel is Always Best
Some people think premium fuel is always the best option for their vehicle. But that’s definitely not the case.
Every truck is different, with different fuel requirements. Check with an auto technician to see if your vehicle is benefitting from premium fuel. You might be able to save yourself a pretty penny by avoiding the extra expense.
2. Servicing Is Only Required Once a Year
This is only a half myth. A truck that doesn’t cover all that much damage is probably safe to be serviced only once a year. But in other cases, a truck may require more regular servicing.
Every vehicle should be serviced every 12,000 miles. If you’re driving your truck regularly for work, it may be necessary to get serviced more regularly.
3. Oil Changes Don’t Need to be Regular
it’s easy to forget about the oil in an engine. It does its magic without making a sound and doesn’t need replacing as often as gas.
But it’s important to change the oil at regular intervals. Ideally, it should be changed every 3,000 miles as a minimum. If you don’t make changes regularly, your engine could suffer, causing you huge expense and inconvenience down the line.
4. Spark Plugs Need Changing Every 30,000 Miles
It’s a common maxim: spark plugs need to be changed every 30,000 miles. But just because it’s often said doesn’t mean it’s true!
Many trucks have spark plugs that can be changed far less regularly. Some can run for more than 100,000 miles without requiring a change. Ask one of our trained mechanics how often your spark plugs ought to be changed.
5. A Scan Tool Can Detect All Problems With a Truck
If you’ve visited a mechanic’s shop recently, you might have seen the mechanic use a sophisticated scanner to check for problems with your vehicle. These machines are very helpful and can detect a range of issues. But they aren’t magic wands.
A lot of problems with a truck slip below the notice of these scanners. From axel problems to issues with the clutch, some things just don’t show up on the scanner. Be sure to have an auto mechanic look over your vehicle thoroughly and don’t just rely on the tool to do the job.
